Atom vs. RSS 2.0 Feeds – any opinion?

Quick question for you guys – any preference for supporting Atom vs. RSS 2.0 feeds? (Or both?) I’m currently only supporting RSS 2.0 because of my (possibly mistaken) belief that it’s the most commonly used standard (and it keeps the menu cleaner).

Am I wrong? Are there any of you out there who see a benefit to also having an Atom feed?

Appreciate your thoughts!

Please please pleeeeeease keep RSS feeds.  I use Safari RSS, and it’s so so damn convenient to have the RSS feature.  Makes keeping up with you nice and easy!

P.S. Love the blog!  Keep up the good work! (-b^_^)-b

Thanks for the comments guys. Looks like I’ll stick with RSS 2.0 for now and see if I ever hear requests for Atom support.

As to contacting me, I’m working on getting an email contact alias set up in some appropriate manner. Need to find a balance between being accessible and also not being able to respond to everything due to lack of time (and hopefully not coming across as being rude because of it!) Hope to have something in the next few weeks!

I don’t know that it much matters, actually (and doesn’t Community Server generate both automatically anyway?). I think most news feed readers can handle both (Safari does, for instance). In my opinion, Atom is probably better from a strictly technical sense (it makes more use of XML standards for instance), but when has that actually mattered?

    RSS!

Atom vs. RSS support is very much a religious topic in the blogging a larger syndication ‘community’, but there are some increasing claims that Atom ultimately has more functionality and definitely a more active development team advancing it. Since there’s no real harm in supporting both as Loraan said, I say support them both and make everyone happy.
