Cool Virtual Earth Technology

Was pointed to flashearth.com, a virtual earth website that uses flash and your choice of many of the satellite map sites to give you a really cool globe browsing experience. I basically "surfed" down to my home neighborhood in a matter of seconds, as you can see here. Very, very cool – check it out!

Cute, but no better than google’s online maps, especially since google’s the only one with relatively detailed imagery of the netherlands.

Doesn’t MS have somthing like this also, livelocal.com, or locallive.com – I remember Major Nelso mentioning it, and I was able to get so close to my house I could see the sheep in the backyard (this is not a metaphor, I have sheep in my backyard).

What I like is that it uses the maps of all the major mapping guys… just with a cool interface. Trying finding your house, put the cursor over it, then switch mapping sources. Interesting to see the different quality.

Nice aggregation of maps. Very fun.

The interface is fast, and it makes it very easy to switch between data.

    now the Nasa one.. Daily?
