Gears of War Ad Spoofs

Just wanted to point you to an InsideMicrosoft blog post about Gears of War ad spoofs. To quote:

The first commercial for this season’s hottest game, Gears of War, was incredibly striking, with great use of a great song (”Mad World” by Gary Jules) and no game sounds, creating a really haunting feel that just worked, and is one of the best commercials in a while.

I totally agree – it’s a great ad (and can also be downloaded in high-def from Marketplace – definitely the way to experience it if you can). However, in a sign of the game’s potential, people have gone to town remixing the video with other sound tracks. You definitely have to check some of them out.

Looks like it’s getting an average review score of 94% according to Game Rankings. From what I’ve played, I have to agree – it’s easily one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever seen on console. Story and dialogue is a bit thin, and the swearing does nothing for me (same problem I had with Prey). But I’ve had a blast playing, and it is a shooter after all! Am looking forward to coming back from my trip and experiencing the game in with a friend in co-op.

    I hear you on Prey, the swearing just got old after awhile.  I mean I can understand dropping an F-bomb in a Mature rated game in some cases, but when you are getting shot, or a few times during cinematics…it gets old.  So far I’ve only heard the S-bombs, so that’s not too bad.  Gears is just a phenomenal game, well worth the 94% average.
