Get your Windows 7 Beta!

The beta for Windows 7 was released last week – you can find download/key details here.

I highly recommend checking it out, especially if you weren’t fond of Vista. I’ve been using it on both my work laptop and home desktop for about a week, and have to stay I’m astonished at how stable and snappy it is. The install was also painless for me… even down to Win7 recognizing a bunch of newer USB devices attached to my machine, searching the web, and automatically installing drivers for each and every one of them. I’m talking about Logitech speakers, wireless keyboards and mice, a USB smart card reader, and a USB label printer… all just worked on first boot.

I’ll also point you to a CNET preview, mostly because I don’t think I could have written it better. Win 7 isn’t your father’s Vista… check it out!

With the beta expiring August 1st, I’ll wait with any major upgrades to my computer until Win7 is out. I just hope my motherboard is ready for a quad-core CPU as I want to go with 64-bit this time and 8GB RAM.

really like 7 so far… lots of great details.

got some problems installing some programs (like Mesh) but overall it looks like a very fine beta.
