I agree. Until there’s a distribution where you never EVER have to use the shell prompt to get things done, Linux won’t even have a chance to go mainstream.

When such a distribution exist, then we may talk about it…

A wink’s a s good as a nod to a blind man.  Linux sux as  a desktop client, but all my production servers are either Linux or AIX.  Windows needs better dependency checking, wink wink, nod nod.

Considering we’ve been hearing about Linux’ "imminent" domination of desktop computing since the release of the 2.0 kernel, it might be worth breathing regularly while waiting for that.

Just by not using an RPM distro, you save a ton of headaches.  However, Linux is still nowhere near ready for the Desktop.  It’s a nice alternative, but it’s just so impractical.  If you really want to stop using Windows, you will have less stress getting a Mac then completely converting to Linux.

I used to really love using Linux, but now at age 19 (so old, I know), I just don’t see the point of why I have to do so much work to get it working when I still have to rely on Windows.  Nor do I have to time to tinker around getting things to work that should ‘just work’ from the start.

Linux have its practical uses, same as windows or even OSX, its really as simple as that. I get more and more annoyed these days by those people thinking THEIR choice is the best ever and everyone not using it has no clue about anything, supports terrorism or any other silly arguments I heard recently
