Moving Ozymandias to Graffiti

Just wanted to give folks a heads-up that with the kind help of Kevin Harder of Telligent systems, I’ll be moving Ozymandias to the Graffiti content management system. Community Server is fantastic, but it’s a system that’s built to do so much more than just a blog. Useful if you need the functionality, but challenging to maintain easily. Hoping that Graffiti will make it easier to stay on top of the web tech parade. If you’re curious, Kevin’s site is on Graffiti, and you can also check out LetsKillDave.com as he recently made the same migration.

All legacy URLs should work after the upgrade – if you find any issues, please drop a note and let us know!

Nice. Don´t forget to post your new blog link here when you move :)

    Best

I can’t help but wonder why people go for anything with such extended features when all they need is a blog. Why not just go for WordPress or something similar and get rid of all the overkill?

Hey, buddy, can you do something and bring Diablo 3 to xbox 360? Diablo coop was always awesome and Diablo 3 coop will be too.

    Please :)

No worries – you already know it. Just swapping the engine out that’s under the hood, but the domain will stay the same.

It's often to keep a custom domain, and not hang off another domain. That, and wanting to keep complete control over the content (which was a big deal for me).

Man, I’d love to see Diablo on consoles. My guess is that Blizzard will decide to do so or not depending on whether they think the experience can be brought over without losing anything. here’s hoping!

Hey Andre, could you talk to the guys in charge of the dashboard updates and see if they can't figure out a way to get the guide blade thing to be as fast in-game as the PS3's cross media bar?

I still don't like the way it looks (too many icons = too much guesswork and 'learning'), but it sure as heck is a lot faster than the 360's guide in-game.

The extra info on albums (album art?) the PS3 has/will get would be a nice addition too, as I can't be arsed to go through the 'best of' albums one by one to find the one I want to listen to. We get video previews, why not more album info?

Stealing… I mean getting inspiration from competitors isn't a bad thing. Sony's done it (achievements vs. trophies/accomplishments, guide button vs. "XMB" button, sixaxis vs. wii-mote), Nintendo's done it (Live Arcade vs. Wii shopping channel) and now it's time Microsoft gets some inspiration from Nintendo and Sony (internet browser, faster & lighter interface, cheaper storage).

Well, based on the movies I watched, there´s nothing xbox 360 couldn´t do in terms of graphics and technology. In terms of controls, I know it would work very well… anyway, Sacred 2 is coming to show that point and click games can be made on consoles.

But I wish Blizzard could bring this jewel to us. It would be nice. I hope M$ do somethng about it :)

    Hugs!!

Uhm, my blog is a WordPress one and it runs off my own domain hosted at GoDaddy.com. I have complete control over it (probably more than I’d like and need) from the theme, plug-ins and management to the database. It sounds a tad like you’ve been misinformed there Andre ;)

And the RSS will not change I hope?

A long time ago, you posted a detailed explanation of how the ps3′s xmb used memory, and what dev’s had available to work with, and the choices that they had to make when deciding to provide (for instance) in game chat.  Can you revisit this (in light of 2.4), has anything really changed? (I’m thinking the memory cost of using the new features will stop a lot of dev’s from implementing them in upcoming titles).

More specifically, I like the ability to move the blog to any hosting provider I wish… that's what I meant by complete control. Nothing against WordPress. :)

Nothing's really changed that much… they've been able to reduce memory impact of the libraries enough to fit some (but not all) of the XMB functionality. That's the primary reason voice chat, cross-game invites, and other aspects on the bar aren't implemented (unless you quit out of game).

Can't really comment on achie- ahem – "trophies" since I haven't been able to get Super Stardust (the one game that currently supports) to update.

    Looking forward to E3… ;)

Looking forward to E3 too. I hope the two nem games announcements are not related to games like Guitar Hero, Lips, etc. :P
