Playstation 3 begins manufacturing?

Ozy, I appreciate your cander(sp) in admitting that you’ll be purchasing a PS3 this fall.  It’s wise to pay attention to your competition.  I have to admit though, I don’t have that same fuzzy feeling for the PS3 launch, like I did this time last year for the 360 launch.  

I was lucky enough to snatch a Premium on Nov 22nd, and even though I’m on my 2nd 360 and 3rd mic, (damn launch window defects, but you got me a shiny new 360 within a week!), I just have to say I’ve been extremely please with your line-up!  It is freaking awesome!  I can’t think of one exclusive game I would buy the PS3 for.  With the 360 getting the GTA IV the same day as the PS3, with possibly more episodic content to boot, there’s not much else I would buy a PS3 for in the next year or 2.  

Now I realize, I’m going to be called a "fanboy" by some people, but keep in mind;  I’m 32 years old and I’ve been gaming for a LONG TIME!  Let’s just say, I remember playing Pong on the 2600 with my best friend who was also my neighbor back in the day!  So excuse me for being excited about how long video games have come and the lineup for the 360 for the next year.  Splinter Cell, Saint’s Row, Crackdown, Gears of War, Mass Effect, BioShock, Test Drive, NFS Carbon, Forza 2, Halo 3, the list goes on, are all games I am looking forward to!  

BTW, my Gamer Score is 10,500+ so I got you and Major Nelson’s scores beat combined!  Come on MS guys, this is embarrasing!

Personally I am really curious about the PS3’s media, Blu-Ray and how durible it will be. What I am getting at is that the discs take very little to make them no longer readable by the drive. Couple finger prints, and a scratch would be catastrophic.

I mention all this just because when the media comes out, Sony will not use the special protective surface, JVC & TDK will only do that since they developed it. So far there is no signs of the protective surface on the existing Blu-Ray discs, especially when you watch DL.TV episode 73 I believe.

And all this will boildown to unhappy customers and there will most likely be returns. Personally this whole Blu-Ray fiasco has turned me off completely to owning any Sony created media.

But the real question begs to be asked.. So how fast is the PS3 is it 4.0, 3.5, 3.2 or 2.8 Ghz that is being produced? And with all the sour news about the PS3 platform, how stable will it really be? Either way major game magazines should get their copies of the system within a couple of months and it will be interesting to see their spin on it.
