Questions about Windows Phone? Find me at MIX10!

I’m at MIX10 all this week and would love to chat with any of you who might be attending!

I’m happy to answer any questions I can, especially around what we’ve disclosed on Xbox LIVE and the Game Hub on the phone. I should caveat that I can’t go into all of what we’re thinking around Xbox LIVE and the phone just yet… like any good company, we’re always planning cool stuff for the future. But I’m happy to clarify any questions I can, pontificate on cloud gaming, and otherwise just chat!

I’ll be in the main booth area called The Commons for much of the time – just ask around and folks should be able to point you my way. I’ll also be keeping an eye on my Twitter feed, so feel free to ping me there @Ozymandias. Heck, if we get a few folks together we’ll head out and grab a drink!

Look forward to meeting some of you in person!

Is it true? No Copy And Paste for Windows Phone 7 Devices?

  • http://ozymandias.com Ozymandias

@SeNiLe911: WP7 doesn’t have copy and paste, but we’ve also revisited the experience of porting data across the device to make it more intuitive. Think smart linking capabilities, such as automatically linking an address in a calendar to the right location in the maps app with a single tap, or dialing a phone number directly.

I hope this is only a marketing tactic to get people to buy what phones are available now and not be holding off for the release of the WP7S because it’s working.

The simplest of phones have had Copy & Paste and for Microsoft to not include it in the WP7S is a shock to MANY! Linking numbers and addresses is a no-brainer, the iPhone had that as well when it released but Copy & Paste came later and they caught a lot of flak for not including it at first but it has it now and for Microsoft not to included is a HUGE mistake.

Will we ever see Copy & Paste on a WP7S device? Copy & Paste is needed more than just for phone numbers and addresses.

How about Visual Voicemail? Will the WP7S have Visual Voicemail in some way?

Also, how do you expect people to use Office and OneNote if they can’t Copy & Paste? This is a joke! Copy & Paste have got to be in the works or this phone will FAIL!

I just read that Copy & Paste function is coming to Windows Phone 7 Series in future updates (http://www.mobiletechworld.com/2010/03/17/copy-paste-function-coming-to-windows-phone-7-series-in-future-updates/). Can you confirm this?

It would be better for it to be released with Copy & Paste but this is promising.

I was hugely disappointed in the copy/paste fiasco, I think the reasoning is fairly flawed in leaving it out at the very least, I mean, I don’t use the jack in my car every day but… I’d have thought there could have been lessons learned from the iPhone, this smacks of the bad old MS and not the new innovative MS.

I sooooo want to get rid of my iPhone, and the W7P is looking very nice, I just hate seeing it handicapped for no apparent reason.

I’ve got the dev tools, have built my browser :) and am waiting for some hardware, this is going to be fun.
