Good to see you're still around though :)

Andre, I have one quick question for you regarding the new dashboard: is the on-screen keyboard finally a QWERTY one, or still the same annoying keyboard from the current dashboard?

Sure, it looks nice, but as soon as the mouth moved it killed the trailer. And the whole 'action' part being a big quick time event didn't help either.

Makes one wonder how much of the uncanny valley is derived from facial animations vs. the entire combination of all motion/animation across the whole body.

Well, one can hope we eventually get there!

re: Image Metrics and the Uncanny Valley

Sadly, it's not a "completely" computer-generated figure. I read an article about the creation of this video a while ago, and it seems that only the face is computer generated - it's been superimposed on a live action body (the same live footage that the expressions were originally captured from, which is why it's such a seamless match!) - you get a better idea of just how much is live action, and how much is CGI, when they flip through alternate textures near the end of the video. The stuff that isn't appearing with freaky textures (i.e. most of the screen) is the original live action footage. But... let's face it... we all knew that hair and cloth was *far* too good to be cgi, right? ;)

The subtitles about the clip being a "wholly computer-generated animation" aren't on the original Image Metrics footage. I think somebody downstream of them has exaggerated the content somewhat ;)

Nice technique, all the same...

(I'm thinking the memory cost of using the new features will stop a lot of dev's from implementing them in upcoming titles)."

Nothing's really changed that much... they've been able to reduce memory impact of the libraries enough to fit some (but not all) of the XMB functionality. That's the primary reason voice chat, cross-game invites, and other aspects on the bar aren't implemented (unless you quit out of game).

Can't really comment on achie- ahem - "trophies" since I haven't been able to get Super Stardust (the one game that currently supports) to update.

It's often to keep a custom domain, and not hang off another domain. That, and wanting to keep complete control over the content (which was a big deal for me)."

Diablo coop was always awesome and Diablo 3 coop will be too."

RE: RE: "Man, I'd love to see Diablo on consoles. My guess is that Blizzard will decide to do so or not depending on whether they think the experience can be brought over without losing anything. here's hoping!"

Well, based on the movies I watched, there´s nothing xbox 360 couldn´t do in terms of graphics and technology. In terms of controls, I know it would work very well... anyway, Sacred 2 is coming to show that point and click games can be made on consoles.

But I wish Blizzard could bring this jewel to us. It would be nice. I hope M$ do somethng about it :)

I still don't like the way it looks (too many icons = too much guesswork and 'learning'), but it sure as heck is a lot faster than the 360's guide in-game.

www.gametrailers.com/.../35680.html

The extra info on albums (album art?) the PS3 has/will get would be a nice addition too, as I can't be arsed to go through the 'best of' albums one by one to find the one I want to listen to. We get video previews, why not more album info?

Stealing... I mean getting inspiration from competitors isn't a bad thing. Sony's done it (achievements vs. trophies/accomplishments, guide button vs. "XMB" button, sixaxis vs. wii-mote), Nintendo's done it (Live Arcade vs. Wii shopping channel) and now it's time Microsoft gets some inspiration from Nintendo and Sony (internet browser, faster & lighter interface, cheaper storage).
