Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Folklore

Just a quick ping to suggest you go see the new "Massive Attack" trailer for Drake’s Fortune for the PS3 (it’s also available for download from the PSM). Very cool, and it’s one of the first PS3 games I can honestly say I’m excited to play. The game’s not particularly innovative – in fact, watching the trailer it’s instantly obvious that Drake’s Fortune is basically Tomb Raider meets Gears of War, with a bit of Ico thrown in (and I’m sure the reviews will highlight that). But it sure looks like a tasty mashup of the above (and I mean that in all sincerity!)

Unlike Drake’s Fortune, Folklore is already out for the PS3. If you’re a fan of adventure/RPGs it’s well worth checking out. There are problems (the most obvious being the forced replay of basically identical sections of the game with each of the major characters), but the style and atmosphere of the game is fantastic. Read a few reviews before picking it up, though – may not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Yes, a positive PS3 post – who woulda thunk? You may now return to watching for flying pig’s at your leisure. ;)

Yeah, Uncharted is also one of the first PS3 exclusives that appeal to me. I really hope it turns out well and that it features more platforming and adventure game elements than those not-so-great-looking shooting bits.

Folklore I’m not so terribly interested in. I love the creature designs, but what I’ve seen of gameplay doesn’t exactly make me giddy with excitement.

It does remind me of Zanzarah: The Hidden Portal a little, what with the whole fairy world setting and Pokemon-inspired creature collecting. Sadly, that game has never gotten the attention it deserved, but to this day it remains one of my favorites. God, I would kill for a sequel.

Drake’s Fortune looks like a realy nice title for the PS3, and its from Naughty Dog a developer (of the original Crash Bandicoot) i realy like. Another PS3 titel that i like to play is Ratchet and Clank, those are typical Playstation games and definitly worth buy or get them when you buy a Playstation.

It starts to look that Sony is slowly stepping in to the new console eara.

It’s interesting, but I just don’t get Rachet and Clank. Have tried both the demo and the full game and I just can’t get into it. <shrug> I’ll be the first to admit it looks like a quality game, though – just not my cup of tea.

Rachet and Clank is a proven IPO, so I’m sure it will sell well.  Folklore pretty much died on arrival.  I’m curious to know, how do you think Uncharted will do?

    Xbox 360s are unplayable lolz

I think Uncharted is going to do really well… looks like a ton of fun, and I’ll be picking one up as soon as I can.

And still, nothing that screams "wouldn’t run just as well on a 360".

Hmmm, I’ve had that PS3 for at least a month now, still haven’t set it up – too many PC/360 games to play.

I really loved Rachet and Clank on the PSP, I could definately dig another and having a second analog and better graphics…

Problem is I couldn’t dig it 400 dollars worth and it’ll be a miracle if I can even begin to afford all the good games coming out for the X-box in the next month alone.

Drake looks bland to me… like most Sony exclusives right now.

I’ve always enjoyed the R&C series, but I wasn’t able to get into this one…and I can’t really explain why.  It’s just different somehow, more shallow.

That being said, Sony’s advertising is starting to look good and Drake’s Fortune looks very promising.  As much as I’ve enjoyed Folding, I’m enjoying the prospect of great games even more.

Ozy, if I may ask, I’d like to hear your opinion of Manhunt 2?

    Only vaguely OT:

Seems like PS3 is "unplayable lolz", too.
